PreClinical Radiation Technology

We develop novel pre-clinical animal imaging and irradiation technologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, safety, and efficacy of radiation research using animal models. We build comprehensive irradiation platforms for small to large animal models, conventional to FLASH dose rates, and x-ray to proton modalities.

Radiation Response Modeling

We employ high-performance computing to model radiation transport, interactions with biological systems, and productions of radiation damages. We develop multi-scale mathematical models to understand radiobiological mechanisms of radiation response at cell and subcellular, tumor, and organ levels and predict clinically relevant outcomes such as tumor growth, regression, and recurrence, as well as acute and late toxicities.

Radiobiological Imaging

We employ novel imaging techniques, such as PET and MRI, and tailor them to specific needs, to measure and visualize radiation-induced changes in tumor and normal tissues, and to validate radiobiological models.

Radiobiological Optimization

We develop and translate optimization algorithms to integrate radiobiological models into treatment planning and to optimize radiation therapy for improved tumor control and normal tissue sparing.
