Helpful Information
Student Health Program (SHP)
Program students in on-campus programs are auto-enrolled in medical and dental coverage for themselves and have the option to enroll into vision coverage. Program students may enroll their spouse, domestic partner, and children into coverage during the annual enrollment period that takes place each July or during the year with a qualified life event. The cost of coverage for Program students is paid by the student. Program students may waive their auto-enrolled coverage if they have alternative medical insurance that meets JHU’s requirements. Waivers are required to be submitted each year. For more information, please visit the Graduate Student Benefits Overview and the Student Health Resources page. Regardless of your health program, you will be required to pay a University Health Services (UHS) annual fee. This will allow you access to an on-campus UHS Clinic. If you have additional questions, please reach out to [email protected].
Disability Services Contact Information
The School of Medicine graduate programs are committed to fostering a culture of inclusive excellence. In line with that commitment, we offer confidential and specialized disability support. To request accommodations and services, students work with Student Disability Services (SDS) and can complete the SDS Initial Form Online to start the process. If you are not sure whether you want to request accommodations or if you have questions about any aspect of the process, please contact Ms. Ellen Kaplan at [email protected]. Students are encouraged to request accommodations before courses begin to allow time for accommodations to be arranged, but they can be requested at any point they are needed.

Johns Hopkins Housing Links

Scholarships
FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA)
We encourage all US Citizens and US Permanent Residents to apply for Federal Student Loans by submitting the FAFSA. Unfortunately, these loan funds are not available to international students.
After Stafford Loans (Federal Graduate Student Loans), whatever amount is remaining on the ‘Draft Estimated Expenses’ is the total possible Grad Plus Loan. Both Stafford and Grad Plus Loans start with the FAFSA application. Information on the FAFSA is available on the following website:
- Hopkins Office of Financial Aid
- Hopkins Medicine Graduate Student PDF Instruction Sheet
- FAFSA School Code – E00235 for Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
- SOM CSS Profile School Code – 5346
Outside Scholarship Resources
Of course, loans are funds you eventually have to pay back. Scholarships are award funds you don’t have to pay back. Each student will know more than anyone at Hopkins whether or not they meet each scholarship’s criteria. The following list is by no means exhaustive; it is meant as a starting point for finding information on additional or specific sources of funding.
When applying for funding, you might need confirmation of acceptance, a letter explaining the field of medical physics, a letter of support from the accepting department or school, or something similar. Please send Please send Lynn Gibson the details ([email protected]). She can either write the letter or send a request to the most appropriate person in the Department.
